I once told a good friend of mine that I enjoy reading old news article. Somewhere around 2-4 months back because it help me see if the CEOs, analysts, or even the Fed chairman were right about their "forecast".
Today, I went back to October 10, 1958 when the Dow was at 543 and the publishing of the Dow The Letters.
The letter states:

The letter states:
The averages are composed of all the knowledge available to the financial community... Prices are low because all the bearish factors our critics adduce have been discounted in the prices... But the stock market is not trading on what is common knowledge today but upon the sum of expert knowledge applied to conditions as they can be foreseen many months ahead.I wonder if we are at that point where the Dow discounted all the bad news. I sure hope so.
