It was another strong week for the Dow. The market closed higher four days straight and closed Friday down 22 points. At the end of the week, the market gained 165 points and sit at 9,605.41. I mentioned last week that things appear to be "weak" and as I expected, the market act in the opposite direction. At the end of the week, my watch list has 9 companies compared to 12 from the week before. Here are the companies on my watch list as of September 11, 2009.

My Transactions
I had a lot of transactions this week. Here is a quick snap shot.
H&R Block (HRB): bought on 7/27/09 for $16.29 - sold on 9/8/09 for $16.82. The 8th was an Ex-dividend date which mean I am entitled to the dividend. I rolled the proceed into Automatic Data Processing (ADP) on the same day at $38.63. Buying on that day allowed me to collect the next dividend payment. A quick summary, I will get dividend from both HRB and ADP without waiting three months. This may sound confusing but it may help you gain few percentage points if you apply this strategy wisely.
I also mentioned on 9/4/09 watch list that I took a speculative position in a miner which turned out well.
Yamana Gold (AUY): bought 8/25/09 for $9.15 - sold on 9/8/09 for $11.03. A 20% gross gain (17% net) in exactly 2 weeks. Please understand that is was very speculative and was only done with money that I was will to risk.
